This budding movement is a deliberately broad tent of fair-minded people who want to get things done. It’s our shared values, plus a willingness to act, that makes someone an ‘ActionStation kind of person’. Not your age, income, postcode, ethnicity, gender or political affiliation. We are a vehicle for people to unite independent of the usual labels that divide us.
According to surveys that we send to ActionStation members throughout the year - we are from every generation, the youngest member being 12 years old and the eldest, 96. We are nurses, teachers, union organisers, mums, dads, retirees, students, church leaders, social workers, engineers, admin workers, doctors, academics, researchers, lawyers, technologists and more.
Roughly 80 percent of us are Pākehā or European, 15 percent of us are Māori, 4 percent of us Pasifika and 3 percent of us Asian. This shows, we have more work to do to make sure our community genuinely reflects the country we live in and we're committed to doing so.
61 percent of us are female, 36 percent of us are male, 2 percent of us are non-binary and the other 1 percent preferred not to say. We live all around New Zealand from Cape Reinga to Bluff, and the majority of people live in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
Our staff team is made up of eight amazing humans, but only three of us are full-time. Our job is to direct your precious time energy for maximum impact. Our Board is made up of eight volunteers who operate with a Co-Chair model. One Tangata Whenua Co-Chair and one Tangata Tiriti Co-Chair. This is part of our efforts to truly honour and reflect Te Tiriti o Waitangi in all that we do.

The Member Review Panel is a group of ActionStation members who use the collaborative decision-making platform Loomio to review every petition started on our community campaign platform OurActionStation. They are: Mandy Hager, Murdoch Stephens, Susi Newborn, Marnie Reid, Lauren Jack, Kera Sherwood O’Regan (Kāi Tahu), Jackson Vogt and Thom Taptiklis. We also have five volunteer proofreaders, two volunteer data analysts and this year we welcomed two interns from Victoria University - Talia and Neveh.
